CoG Site Search Well Under Way!

At this point, identifying a site for the online/warehouse phase of the CoG is our #1 priority. Currently, we are seriously considering two possible sites - one in Berkeley near Picante and REI, and one in Emeryville, adjacent to the soon-to-be-completed bike path near Hollis and Powell. We have submitted a Letter of Interest (LOI) for the Emeryville site and are eagerly awaiting a response from the building owners. The LOI is the first step of negotiation, and depending on what comes back, we may well have to continue the search. Finding an available site in the 4,000-5,000 square foot range for a decent price is a tricky endeavor in this neck of the woods. Also, we are being very mindful about which locations are best suited for the most CoG members, which have easy access via public transportation and bicycles, etc., etc. It's a tall order! So keep your fingers crossed, and we'll keep you posted... (check out the Site Search Committee for more details about what we are looking for - you can access the group's postings from the cog homepage www.thecog.org.)

update - unfortunately, the Emeryville site didn't work out. The owners of the building decided that for the amount they would have to invest in getting the site up to code, they'd be better off with the increased revenue of an office building. The Berkeley site is still available, but we're concerned that Gilman may be a bit too far north for many of our members...

Good to hear. While the Emeryville location is over in an semi-distant area that I have usually few reasons for visiting, having it along a bike path would make getting to it fairly easy. I look forward to getting this online site up and running!
