The City of Berkeley Planning Commission is discussing the CoG in terms of how our business might fit in one of the warehouse districts. We are also in contact with the cities of Oakland and Emeryville to determine zoning restrictions. Since the CoG warehouse won't be a retail location, but we will have members arriving to work and pick up orders, the zoning requirements aren't as clear cut as with some other business endeavors. We'll keep you posted.

Our Tech Committee is nearly finished with the tremendous effort of creating the CoG's online interface. All of our inventory must be electronically presented in a way that allows members to browse, order and pay online. This consisted of importing over 18,000 products that the CoG will potentially carry (from one of our distributors, United Natural Foods, formerly Mountain People), and the committee is now faced with the daunting task of narrowing down those possibilities to what we can manage to carry in the first few months of the CoG's operational phase, based on our start-up costs as well as putting all potential products through the filter of our Sustainability Guidelines (see below). We're hoping to have the interface finalized within the next few weeks. Bravo, Tech Committee!
The CoG website is gearing up for a totally new design and feel. We'll let you know when we're ready to reveal it to the world!
